As a follow-up to my friend Joe’s 200 guitars concert:

Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Saturday night: 200 electric guitars circle Damrosch Park—individually amped. It’s “The Crimson Grail.”
Here’s the finale (Part 7/8) on YouTube:

Free Wordless Music: 200 Electric Guitars at Lincoln Center Out of Doors August 8, 2009

rhys_chathamFree tonight at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors series. My friend Joe is Guitarist #133 (soprano), a shredder among shredders. His recommendation: “Bring earplugs.”

Wordless Music:
Liquid Liquid
Rhys Chatham: A Crimson Grail for 200 Electric Guitars

For club-music mavens, the return of New York’s seminal breakbeat artistes Liquid Liquid is a reminder that in the beginning freestyle dancers romped and stomped to the rhythms of percussionists. Two hundred electric guitars and basses line the park and plug in for the world premiere of Rhys Chatham’s A Crimson Grail for 200 Electric Guitars.
